Birthplace-Museum of Federico García Lorca in Fuente Vaqueros

Fuente Vaqueros is the town where Federico Garcia Lorca came into the world, but it was not until 1986, fifty years after his axecution, that the house was opened to the public. Nowadays the visitor con visit the house where family objects, manuscripts and works by Lorca and his friends (Caballero, Alberti, Dalí, etc) have been conserved.
The musseum run a permanent programme of activities.

House-Musseum Federico García Lorca in Valderrubio

Federico lived during the first years of his life surrounded by golden poplar groves, green fields and the Sierra Nevada mountains as a backdrop in the town of Valderrubio. Shortly after being born in Fuente Vaqueros he moved to his house where the visitor can enjoy the settting in the poet lived.

Alfacar, The Gorge and Viznar

Alfacar, a village famous for its waters and the local bread industry, is located in the Federico García Lorca Park, at the place where it is belived that the poet was assassinated. A wall, with fargments of his poems etched on blue painted ceramic tiles, surrounds the main square.
Viznar is where he spent his hours. Close to the town is the Viznar Gorge where it is thought that his reamains, toguether withm those of other victims, are buried. Nearby is the windmill, Molino d la Venta, converted into an ethnografical musseum. Annother place of interest is the Our Lady of Fatima shrine, the first Christian cementary in Granada and a place of extraordinary landscapes.

Huerta de San Vicente was the summerresidence of the García Lorca family between 1926 and 1936. It was there that Federico García Lorca wrote some of his most important works. 'Once Five Years Pass' (1934) or 'Divan' (1931-1936) amng others.
The house contains original furniture, househole utensils and decoration as well as pieces by contemporary artist and friends of Federico García Lorca such as Salvador Dalí, Rafael Albeti, Hermenegildo Lanz and Santiago Ontañon, to name but a few.

An excelent way of getting to know the universe of Federico García Lorca, is by discovering the corners of his childhood and youth. You will be able to take a close look at an interesting collection of works and original edition of the poet and of other artists, and admire the wonderfull sight offered by the fertile lowland of Granada.
